The Artist
Jon Fitzgerald is a filmmaker, visual artist, author, and longtime advocate for independent cinema. A co-founder of the Slamdance Film Festival and former director of AFI Fest, he has spent more than three decades supporting filmmakers, festivals, and socially impactful storytelling. He is also the author of Filmmaking for Change: Make Films That Transform the World.
Through Suart Studios, Fitzgerald brings that same philosophy to the visual arts. He created all of the original artworks in the collection using recycled media and mixed-material mosaics that transform discarded materials into contemporary storytelling.
The artwork is connected to his film project Alchemy in Venice, part of a broader movement celebrating music, art, sustainability, and community. Through exhibitions, screenings, and touring experiences, Fitzgerald seeks to unite filmmakers, artists, and audiences in a shared effort to inspire creativity, environmental awareness, and positive change.
